| Stroke by Stroke Personal notes of the exhibited paintings All painting read left to right top to bottom These are thumbnails so, to view full photo, double click! All Dressed Up-Acrylic-2005-I took a clear glass vase and made it porcelain. I tried to portray the vase as an evening gown from the days of Marilyn Monroe. I think the dark blue against the pure white gives it drama and the grapes give it some style. PRICE: $225 Size: 12x24 Venice in the Afternoon-Acrylic-2006-This was a painting, that I started early in the year and I finally finished it in November. I have never been to Italy but I took many photos that I found over the internet to create the mood of the water city. PRICE: $1000 Size: 48x24 Cool in the Evening-Acrylic-2006-This was my attempt to loosen up my brushstrokes and create more of a mood than an image. I used a Renoir card as my point of reference. The composition and the aloofness of the stems but keep within my own style. PRICE: $500 Size: 18x24 Glass and Grapes-Acrylic 2005-I was trying to paint glass and render it perfectly, these are two carafes that are all glass and I had them stand together. The grapes are garnishing them. PRICE: $250 Size: 18x24 Pom Poms in Blue Carafe-Acrylic 2005-I tried to paint this as a watercolor and keep the colors sheer but yet be strong in composition. I like how the blue carafe came out. The flowers are supposed to be playful in the carafe. PRICE: $750 Size: 24x48 Milk Glass with Draping Grapes-Acrylic-2006-This is a rendering of a milk glass candy dish. I tried to get the cuts to appear in the painting. The peach-orange gives it a Tuscany feel. I have glazed this one with roofing tar and polyurethane mixture. The paint becomes warmer almost an antique finish. PRICE: $450 Size: 18x24 Pewter Jar with Flowers-Acrylic-2006-This was a study using a picture I saw in a magazine with a silver dish with roses tightly arranged and using a toothpick holder as a reference. Added the premature yellow roses lying down to give it some softness. I didn’t want to glaze this one, because I liked the brighter colors. PRICE: $200 Size: 18x18 Roses For You-Acrylic-2005-I have been told that the roses in the vase almost look tattooed on the painting. Originally I was going to fill it in and make them a little more solid, but I wasn’t too sure if I should keep them there. So any ways, I think the vase looks iridescent and shimmers. PRICE: $225 Size: 12x24 Brown Glass-Acrylic-2005-This is a brown glass jar where again, I was trying to render it perfectly, get the lighting a little dramatic. PRICE: $150 Size: 14x18 Picnic-Acrylic-2006-07-I started this on the fly at the end of the year and I began to paint on an old canvas. You can see the many layers of paint that has built up on it over the years. I think it’s got a lot of playful lines and forms that have been created. PRICE: 225 Size: 24x16 In A Blue Mood-Acrylc-2005-This is the first painting I did, after not painting for quite some time. I got some tips from a cousin and he showed me how to glaze my paintings with roofing tar and polyurethane. I think this has a great melancholony feel to it with the three roses and the bright lemon gives it a sense of hope. PRICE: $500 Size 24x24 Grapes in Champagne Glass-Acrylic-1994-I painted this a long time ago when I was painting for food at Café Tu Tu Tango. I think the colors and the brushstrokes are great and create a sense of movement while looking restful. PRICE: $650 Size: 18x24 Beachside-Acrylic-1993-This is one of my favorite paintings from my college days, I think because it’s peaceful and fun to look at with all the colors. I have painted smaller versions of this for other people over the years. PRICE: $750 Size: 35x35 Tabletop-Acrylic 2007-This was my last painting I did before the show opening. I wanted to give this one a little more stability with the table underneath as well as the delicateness of the glass and fruit. PRICE: $400 Size: 18x24 Vase with Dried Tiger Lillies-Acrylic-2007-This is another still life that I did last fall. I wanted to make the white vase almost glow and the dried Tiger Lillies was just an exercise in rendering something different. PRICE: $450 Size: 18x24 Milk Glass with Grapes- Acrylic-2007-I was trying to see if I could repeat myself and I think I did~ PRICE: $550 Size: 18x24 Last painting is not for sale, it was a gift and I can repeat an earlier one Andycakes-Acrylic 2008- This take on Andy Warhol's self portrait morphed into a cupcake was for Dimensions Gallery 1st Anniversary. It was a donated piece but I can repeat it. PRICE: $150 Size: 12x14 |
